It's a full day madness

I dislike the bouts of almost breakdowns or jumpiness that comes with pressure, especially from work. But I also opine that it helps to push me, helping me break barriers which I never thought were possible.

Reading this in the midst of my morning madness saddens me a little. Get your acts together and stop finding excuses already. You can't be pampered so much and expect the new generation to follow you because of your fear to change - sadly for the better. For every vision conceived, we're taking one baby step forward. But with the digression, we're falling two steps behind.

TAIPING: Some Malay teachers in Bagan Serai are “going mad” as they cannot handle (what does this spell to you?) teaching Mathematics and Science subjects in English, claimed a state assemblyman.

Dr Khalil Idham Lim Abdullah (Titi Serong) said the teachers themselves had to take English classes to improve their command of English.

While they are still grappling with the language, they are required to teach their students as well, said Khalil, who was chairman of the Perak Backbenchers Club in the former Pakatan Rakyat-led state government.

“The teachers themselves have a poor command of English (the root of the problem is already stated, what are the actions then?). How do we expect them to teach their students?” (By putting more effort to brush up the language then?)he asked in his speech after a briefing on the subject at the state PAS headquarters in Jalan Air Kuning on Tuesday.

Some teachers, he said, “have simply gone crazy” because of this, likening the matter to the blind leading the blind (Hence we need more effort. More willingness to accept changes). He claimed the minimum passing mark for both subjects were lowered to ensure that only a rosy picture was painted (Don't do it. Accept that changes do not take place so fast. Getting minimal marks doesn't matter. Learn from the mistake and better oneself) of the move.

Earlier, the gathering was told by Malaysian Translators Association president Associate Prof Abdullah Hassan that a big gathering is scheduled to be held in front of Istana Negara at 2pm on March 7 to protest against the teaching of Mathematics and Science in English.

Prof Abdullah said the argument that the usage of English would provide better job opportunities could only hold water if there were plenty of job openings. (Passing the blame again. Think further, please. English is a world language. Why limit yourself when you have the chance to experience more?)

Blast the pressure cooker tip for the day:

Draw out a 101 Things To Do Today, (All Incomplete) So Sue Me List like I did today. I can't guarantee it works for everyone, but it almost always does for me. Prolly 80% of the chores get done each time.

SPAM for dinner!

The nutritionist:
Ahem.
Parental guidance needed for this post.
Highly artery clogging and extremely sodium infused.

Twas a rare occasion today that I got nearly half a day's off yesterday afternoon, hence I thought I'd make the boys happy with some home-cooked albeit processed food for a change coz we've been eating out every day. It's also because I can't leave either one of them out of this SPAM tasting experience, as they had eyed the can sitting in my cupboard ever since Christmas whizzed past. Since it's hard to actually get all 3 of us to congregate for a meal together, this is a must-take opportunity.

Sorry, all 3 of us very "sua-ku" (mountain tortoise, jakun and erhm.. medieval?), never eat western SPAM before. Luncheon meat ada laa. (I think Joon worships it. He has a shrine dedicated to it somewhere underneath his bed. He offers his snot to it in return for blessings of a lifelong supply's luncheon meat. shhhh.... duntellhimitelliuwokay)

The fler that rocked our night

They even have a how-to guide to proper SPAM using.
I thought it was darn cute.

Chiang chiang chiang chiang~
The smell that wafted out when the can popped, aitelliu......
Can die lor.

Greasy goodness.

Inner devil's excuse: I used olive oil laa.
The struggling angel: But.... mono also turn into trans-fat ady.

I'm thick skinned, so I gonna tell you:
It tasted as 'chun' as it looks. :P

I bought pumpkin seed bread from 'de Pastry Chef' in Medan Putra, Menjalara after work today. It was gorgeous with the fler of the night. Already say artery clogging lor, must add fiber.

Chucked in some romaine s'well. I bought a stalk from Tesco on the way back and it was like 28 cents. Seeds and greens not enough also, so I sauteed some cherry tomatoes in the remaining SPAM flavah infused oil and added a pinch of mixed herbs. Squash it in the middle of the SPAM-wich and it's like tomato sauce, only without additives. Yum! Another saving grace was, the SPAM's turkey and not pork. Aha. I don't feel too guilty because turkey's leaner.

Tsk tsk... excuses.. *wags finger at self*

I also got the loves of my life these dainty tarts from the same bakery cum cafe. I didn't get to eat any but I still happy, because my much loved and the more loved are both happy...

Oh, a very appreciative thanks to my Chombo Chombi darling for the premiere tix! Thank you for taking the trouble to invite us and making sure we reached there in time! I love you! The movie rocked only because you were there. Buu would have agreed with me. (won't you?)

You guys know wanna know what was Buu's comment about the movie?

Buu: Your Cantonese is better than Chun-Li.

....... nevah mind.

Chun-Li's pretty. Chombi Chombi says so too.
So go watch her. :)

For big assets, please look out for Maya.

For me, I look at Gen. Cool old man.
So sexy, can marry me?

Grilled Pork Ribs @ Deutsches Gasthaus 3

Oktoberfest may be months away. But when the desire for pork and an evening drink calls to be satiated, nothing should impede the way!

Buu expressed a strong urge to gnaw on some porcine tonight. As the usual partner-in-crime, I happily supported his notion. So together we hunted high and low for a place near my place that serves the elusive meat. After some major running around, we finally managed to find a German beerhouse that is porcine-friendly - Deutsches Gasthaus 3.

For drinks, Buu ordered a Denmark beer - Tuborg to quench his thirst. I picked from his glass, as always. I'm no beer connoisseur, so I don't really know how to differentiate between a good beer and a lousy one. But, I like the taste of this one. It was refreshing and went well with the meat that accompanied our meal later on.

Tuborg (0.33 litre) - RM 15

The menu spelt happiness to us both as we saw pork, pork and more pork. There were pork apperitifs, pork pizza, pork knuckles... Of course, there were also beef dishes as well as poultry, seafood and lamb. I saw moussaka and lamb ribs too. So enticing!

Buu had Rippchen Auf Sauerkraut, which was grilled braised pork rib served with pork sauce reduction, sauerkraut, toasted bread, and salad. Verdict? Lecker! The meat was absolutely tender and we had some finger-licking-good time gnawing the flesh off the bones. The reduced sauce was so appetising that I wished that there was more of it to go around. And I took to sauerkraut, just like I took to kimchi in no time. I think I have a soft side towards pickles.

Rippchen Auf Sauerkraut - RM 48

As I couldn't decide my main, Buu chose Pasta Nero for me. It was the chef's specially homemade fresh squid ink pasta with fresh tiger prawns in spicy garlic olive oil. The pasta was cooked just nice, al dente to the bite. I love the garlicky sauce that coated each strand of the pasta. The spicy twist to it was a nice touch and not overbearing at all. They were really generous with their prawns too. I counted six in the dish altogether and the tiger prawns were pretty fresh, oozing sweetness with each mouthful.

Pasta Nero - RM 38

Even before our dishes came, we were already planning our next trip back. Yes, for the food chiefly of course! To top it off, it was a nice place to chill out especially after a good day's work. Very relaxing, I find. Buu loved the interior, the part leading to the washroom. He mentioned something about mirrors and lights there. The dude has a thing for mirrors, I swear.

And I thought he was stuffed.... He ordered a dessert after our hefty mains! Ahaha, not complaining la. I also get to eat what. :)

Homemade Tiramisu - RM 15

The presentation by itself also whet our appetites already, don't you think so? The Tiramisu was pretty decent and enjoyable. It wasn't cloying like some that I had before, where the whipped cream was a bit too much. Very nice. That said, I don't have a sweet tooth. Dude can take more sweet stuff than me.

What with great food and cool ambience, we'll definitely be back!

How To Use An Egg Mold

  1. Put eggs in water and bring water to a boil. Once boiling, count 10 minutes and remove pot from fire.

  2. Drain the water and peel the eggs. Caution: Eggs are still hot.

  3. Put the peeled egg into the mold. Close it and tighten the clasp. Dunk in ice cold water for 5 - 10 minutes.

  4. After that, remove the egg from the cold water. Lastly, extract the egg carefully out from the mold.

  5. Sometimes, there may be excesses over the rims of the molded egg.

  6. Simply take a toothpick and gently scrape the excess from the outline.

100 yen@Taman Danau Desa

I want to buy 4D today because I planted my feet into wet cement during supper hunt last night and stepped on dog poo this morning while venturing out for breakfast! BUT... what number to buy ler? Suggestions are much welcomed! lolx!

Actually the main motive of posting today is to tell everyone that work shouldn't be boring. Sometimes we need to add in a healthy dose of pleasure, agree? Which is why I sought out Taman Danau Desa's 100 yen shop early morning yesterday before my roadshow started and bought some bento gadgets again!

The stash:

Mini shoyu bottles and mayo containers

Monkey furikake container

Egg molds!

The egg molds are my favourites among the stash. I told Buu that those were the molds that I idam-idamkan many a times after reading through those lovely bento bloggers' posts. The orange one is a bunny, the pink is a bear, the blue is a car and the green is a fish! I am super happy because the bunny and the teddy one was the last pack on the rack and I just swiped it without thinking. Good things sure go out fast!!! And the stock just came in last week. Fancy that. By the way, I also got the quail egg molds. :)

Now, to pester my cousin to get the fridge fast. Or Buu and I will go check out some on our own and get it if me cuzz is preoccupied with his stuff still.

Daiso Romp - New Bento Knick-knacks

Nichii or Daiso... Nichii or Daiso... Nichii or Daiso... for side by side they stand.

It's not that tough, really. If you know me. :)

aitelliu.... Daiso never fails to hear the "ka-chink!" on their cash register whenever I pay them a visit. It was supposed to be a harmless window shopping trip since I was enjoying some private time alone. bUT... BUT.... my itchy hands just couldn't stop stashing the items into the basket!

Results from my spur of the moment retail therapy?

Egg molds - Star & Heart

Baran in assorted sizes

Another pack of baran (^_^)

Rice ball wrapper!

After the romp, I also dropped by at Popular in Ikano with the intention of purchasing 'New Moon', one of the sequels to 'Twilight'. Guess what? They ran out of stock. Geez, I couldn't believe it. They were still right there before CNY. (>_<)#%^!@

Anyhow, I got myself another book instead which I've procrastinated from buying for such a long time. It's 'For One More Day' by Mitch Albom. This book's been on my To-Read-List since it came out. So it's been put off pretty long already... *sigh*

If only books don't cost so much. But then, how do we justify the effort put in by the writers without the monetary token of value? Tough la.

I'm still happy though. Coz i finally bought it. And it's another book crossed off the list. Plus a new story to lap up. Life's been good to me so far. I can't complain, honestly. It's one of those simple pleasures in life which I enjoy indulging in, apart from eating. I'm that easily contented sometimes. (^_^)

Huzza, i can't wait to start!

FFK-ed

I got ffk-ed twice in a night.
Ze mood now iz

One is a lovesick puppy turned neurotic and another is a really sick baby needing plenty of rest. Maybe it's an indication for me to catch up on my blog post.

Enjoy the clip. I got it from this link.

It's a prelude to something which I will not reveal so soon, as I may not be able to post as often as I like due to the unpredictable life that I happen to live.

Happiness. Naturally @ Dessert's Bar

I remember when I was staying in my previous neighbourhood, a hard day's work would always be rewarded by the welcoming sight of the ice cream parlour, right at the street where home is merely 2 minutes away. Ever so softly, it glows, beckoning me to visit it... Ahh, how many times was I tempted to just saunter in and immerse myself in its warm and cosy setting.

Rationality is a second nature to me, much to my chagrin. Tell me, is it a fortune or misfortune? For I still can't decide. Being an intern and later a yet-to-be-confirmed employee, I somehow managed to countlessly battle the internal demon from splurging on what I haplessly imagined to be a pure moment of happiness. A few mouthful of melting moments. And some spoon-licking bliss.

When time came for me to move on, regrets were all but few. Pictures and reviews like this and this enticed me even more. I also hopped onto its online domain to decide (and drool) over what I'd devour there, if one day, one fine day, I really had a chance to take the leap.

By a stroke of luck, I revisited the neighbourhood again not too long after. It had been a long night... and my companion and I decided to grab a take-5 moment. And in to the little shop we wearily trudged. Bathed in warm yellow lights, we were greeted by some real comfy armchairs which we gratefully lounged on. Simple bliss. Order was swift with credits to my 'homework'. :)

Rum and raisin crepe, topped with a scoop of rum and raisin ice-cream.

The dessert did not take long to reach as we were among the last patrons in the shop. The raisins were pre-soaked in rum, lovely with the warm crepe and cool ice-cream. But my personal fave of em all was the pan-fried banana. Yummy!~

owh.. did I say that I like their byline too?

Happiness. Naturally.

Rock-A-Bye

While rushing some work last night, I still managed to slip in some SS (read: syiok sendiri) moments using me lappy's in-built webcam. lolx! I was actually rewarding myself for completing a good part of my work. Pointed the lappy at the Dude that helped kept me awake and did a screen shot with Photoscape. Hastily added the watermark and the ladidas~ I reckon Dude gonna scream at me when he sees this. Coz I'm supposed to concentrate on my work. tee hee. See, i terrorise him even when he's asleep.. he looked like he's having a headache~

Ganbatte to myself, 2 down, 1 more to go!!!

-------------------------------------------

My car is not budging *stabs self*  And I'm supposed to go back bp today. Heck, things happen for a reason. Maybe, just maybe... it's a small calamity to prevent a bigger one. sighs.
